Psychotherapy is a form of mental health treatment that involves talking with a trained therapist about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Psychotherapy can help you cope with various challenges, such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and more. Psychotherapy can also help you achieve personal growth, improve your self-esteem, and enhance your well-being.
Psychotherapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It is individualized to meet your specific needs, goals, and preferences. Your therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that suits your situation and addresses your concerns. Your therapist will also integrate several evidence-based approaches, such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy depending on what works best for you. These therapies are based on the idea that emotions are important for human functioning. They help clients learn how to understand, manage, and express their emotions in ways that helps them feel better and achieve their goals. They also use mindfulness techniques to increase awareness and acceptance of the present moment. Furthermore, they help clients identify and pursue their personal values, goals, and purpose.
Psychotherapy is usually a long-term treatment that requires consistency and commitment. The duration of psychotherapy depends on many factors, such as the severity of your problems, the pace of your progress, and the availability of resources. However, your therapist will provide you with an estimate of how long psychotherapy might take before you begin working together. Typically, psychotherapy sessions are weekly or biweekly, and last for 50 minutes. You and your therapist will review your goals and progress regularly, and adjust your treatment plan as needed.

I am a warm, affectionate, and validating therapist with an eclectic and humorous style. My approach is emotion-focused, trauma-informed, and rooted in anti-oppression. I believe in exploring what happened to people instead of what is wrong with them, recognizing the impact of trauma and oppression on their health, and acting from a place of validation, compassion, and empowerment. I like connecting with people and helping them feel seen, heard, understood and believed. I’m passionate about supporting clients to overcoming childhood and attachment trauma; live courageously and challenging old trauma/fear narratives; find their inner wisdom and learn to trust their gut and emotions; standing up against oppressive environments and finding belonging in safe spaces; appreciate themselves just as they are; find their life purpose and connect with their spirituality. I use a range of approaches, including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy, and approaches for single or complex trauma treatment. I have lived experience as a cis-woman, neurodivergent, POC, Latina immigrant.

If you are interested in working with me, you can contact me by phone or email to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
